Hi, I’m Alison and welcome to Nourish Not Diet.
With 30 years of experience as a dietitian and having listened to thousands of stories, you won’t get a ‘one size fits all’ approach to your health needs.
I take a comprehensive approach to get to the core of what’s going on for you — providing support that addresses the whole picture rather than just the presenting condition.
And my commitment to empathetic, size-inclusive care means that every client feels supported and respected throughout our work together.
Your nutrition counselling questions, answered
What is the difference between PMOS and PCOS?
PMOS stands for Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome. It’s the updated clinical name for what has historically been called PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome). The name change better reflects the condition’s true nature as a metabolic and endocrine condition, rather than one defined primarily by ovarian cysts. If you’ve previously been diagnosed with PCOS, that diagnosis still applies; we’re just using more accurate terminology now.
Can nutrition counselling help with PMOS?
Yes. PMOS has significant nutritional and metabolic components, and working with a dietitian can help you understand how food and lifestyle affect your symptoms, hormones and long-term health, without a focus on weight loss. I take a size-inclusive, evidence-based approach to PMOS management.
Do I need a GP referral to see you?
No, you are welcome to book with me directly. However, a referral via a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan allows you to claim a Medicare rebate of $63.40 per consultation.
Can I see you via telehealth?
Yes. Telehealth appointments are available to anyone in Australia, on request to suit your schedule.
Do you accept private health insurance?
I will provide you with a receipt so you can claim your rebate directly. Please check with your provider for the rebate amount.
What happens in a first appointment?
We start by going through your health history, your relationship with food, and what’s brought you here. From there, I’ll have a clearer picture of what kind of support would be most useful, so we can put together some strategies to try that fit your life.
How do I book an appointment?
You can get in touch via my contact form or by calling directly. I’ll get back to you to organise a time that suits.
